Why You Should Go On A Mission Trip

When my sister and I were offered to go on our first mission trip, the pastor told us we were going to Panama City. Well being that I was never very good at geography, I had told everyone that I was going to Florida for a mission trip (how weird right)? My sister had to explain and let me know that it was actually Panama City, Panama, not Panama City, FL. So my sister and I did a garage sale, and some fundraising to get the funds needed to go on this mission trip.

The day was finally here, we left early in the morning with all our bags packed, not knowing what to expect and what was ahead for us for these missions. I can just remember praying that God will help me make an impact while I was there, that I would be able to show who I was through him. I would try to be outgoing as possible and not miss being back home and the guy I was dating at the time (who is now my husband)… I will say I missed him but I was able to focus on what tasks we had at hand.

There were so many amazing things that happened throughout this mission trip and so many new people we met along the way. I just want to put it out there that if you have the opportunity to do so, go on a mission trip.

This is the incredible group that I had the opportunity to go on this trip with. We learned new things about each other and grew in our friendships as well as our relationships with Jesus Christ. One of them that meant more than anything to me was doing this with my little sister Kristina. It meant so much to have her by my side and being able to spend this moment with her.

This was one of the beautiful homes our team got to stay in while we traveled back and forth to the church we were working with there.

Also one of the unique qualities that we got to experience was some different types of foods that they eat there. The biggest one that I can remember was plantains and rice, quite a bit of rice. The food and fruit all were so different than what we have here in the states. I have never tasted a pineapple or fresh fruit as good here as it was there.

We also got to be tourists while we were there and got to see some sites of the Country that was just incredible. The different architecture and the Panama Canal, as well as their culture.

With all these pictures, I have all kinds of memories that will last me a lifetime. So if you are ever given the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Christ. Do God’s work and go, you will never regret those moments and memories. I know for me, I only wish I could go on more and learn more from others because no one person is the same, God created us all different from the top of our heads to the bottom of our feet, we were created all different in our mother’s wombs. Like the bible verse states in the book of Genesis 1: 27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”  Psalm 139:13 “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
