“It’s like Christmas with guns” (Remnar Soady). This is exactly what deer camp season is though. For a lot of people here in Michigan, it is a holiday! One that not a lot of people like to miss. Families get together for breakfast the morning off and words are passed with “good luck hunters.” This is one of my absolute favorite times of the year, and I have plenty of camouflage clothing now to dress for this such year.
As a woman, I do like the occasional pink on my camouflage to make me stand out from the men a little bit. I have to say though I have been a buckless troll and have not shot one yet. Came close once, but no cigar and no rack on my wall. However, my husband has gotten quite a few and I cannot be more proud of him when he does. This gives us meat to put in our freezer and not having to buy it from a store saves us a lot of money.
Anyways, I put together some 101 basics here, and I want to first of all say. I am in no way a professional when it comes to hunting, I just really enjoy it and the time I get to spend with my family. With that being said, these are just some of my favorite gear to use and what I think you might like.

When it comes to sitting out in a deer blind in the woods. The basic and most important things you will want to remember is;
- Bring your gun
- Make sure the gun is loaded and ready to shoot
- Dress warm and wear layers (You can get hot and cold and be back in forth with the temperature so it is easier to take clothes off and put them back on as you go, then to not have enough on.
- Have your deer tags/license on you to put on the deer after you shoot.
- Bring a flashlight
